Like all sumangalas, this one is rich in every possible way. A pure handwoven kanchipuram silk with a vibrant magenta body and pure zari woven flower meenakari work with maroon center, and a striking contrast green border and pallu with intricately woven zari work, is just a visual treat in all posisble ways. The highlight is however in the most unexpected of places -an orange selvedge. It unassumingly brings out each and every feature on the saree that our craftsmen have slaved over – from the colours to the weave to the zari work. It comes with the plain green blouse with zari border and that yummy orange selvedge. Absolutely worthy of a special wedding or occassion.

Care Instructions

Silk is made from the cocoon of silk worms. India has a rich heritage of silk weaving. Apart from Mulberry silk, India is known for producing tussar, muga and ahimsa silks. Some of these are wild and some of these are farmed commercially. Each of these silks has its own property when it comes to sheen, shine and wear. Being a natural fabric, silk does shed, wear and tear with age. However, caring for them ensures they have a long life. Silk Care & Wash

# We recommend air drying silks after every use. Silks do not require washing after every wear unless soiled.

# We recommend giving our sarees for dry cleaning for the first few washes.

# Silk sarees can be washed at home using a gentle detergent or soap nuts. Avoid soaking & scrubbing these fabrics. Any stains should be dry cleaned.

# Avoid tumble dry and instead line dry away from direct sunlight.

# Silk sarees should be regularly worn to avoid fraying. If kept in humid or dry spaces for long without wear, silks are likely to deteriorate. So wear your sarees well.

# If you are unable to wear them regularly, remove them and change folds from time to time. We do not recommend hanging them. If stacked, ensure there isn’t too much weight on the sarees.

# Avoid using naphthalene balls or other chemicals while storing silks. Heavy silks may be stores in muslin bags.

# If you can, roll them on wooden rods to store them wrinkle free. However, gentle folding works well too.

Story

Although sarees are worn for almost all occasions and festivals, bridal sarees are special. They are cherished by every woman and it is a custom to buy several new sarees for a bride. Indian weddings involve various functions like Haldi/Nalangu, Muhurtham/Pheras, Vidai/Grihapravesham etc and a bride wears new sarees for these occasions that are gifted by her near and dear. At AAVARANAA, we developed a range of pure kanchipuram silk brocades crafted in pure zari for these special moments. We use a range of traditional motifs like mayil (peacock), chakram (chariot wheel), rudraksham, manga (mango), elai (leaf), tamarai (lotus), yanai (elephant), yazhi (mythical creature from Indian mythology), Elakkai (cardamom) and many more motifs inspired by nature, culture & religion. The colours are also inspired by nature and range from traditional colours like turmeric, leaf green, elephant grey, kumkum red, sky blue and so on. With western influence, we have also started incorporating pastels from the west. Sumangala literally means auspicious and the colours used are auspicious and beautiful, perfect all the important occasions in your life – from wedding to child birth, graduation to milestone birthdays.
